MARNYS® Fitsalt contains potassium chloride as a substitute for common salt, that is, this is a sodium-free salt that facilitates reducing sodium intake and helps mineral balance.
MARNYS® Fitsalt provides the following properties:
- The formulation of MARNYS® Fitsalt is sodium-free because EFSA recognises that "the reduction of sodium consumption contributes to normal maintenance of blood pressure".
- Potassium chloride (main ingredient; 97% of the content), provides a healthy alternative to the consumption of common salt in the diet.
- L-lysine facilitates the substitution of salt by potassium, favouring the change of eating habits towards other healthier routines thanks to its flavouring action.
- Glutamic acid increases the perception of taste due to the activation of specific receptors in the mouth.
- L-lysine and Glutamic acid, alongside Potassium chloride, enhance the taste, improving the gustatory balance and impact of food.
MARNYS® Fitsalt is ideal for people concerned about salt intake in their diet, those who want to replace salt in special diets and in individuals who want to keep their blood pressure normal.
It is available in a convenient bottle with a very safe and comfortable closure that allows to dose the content and use it easily.

Add life by subtracting salt
For more than fifty years there has been an intense debate on the impact of high salt consumption on public health, which is still ongoing due to the industrialisation of the food industry. Increased consumption of highly salted foodstuffs is primarily due to two effects caused by salt in the body: 1) it blocks taste receptors, and 2) decreases sensitivity to salty taste.
What can cause an excess of salt?
Sodium is an essential element in the regulation of plasma volume, blood pressure, osmotic balance and pH. Excess sodium leads to: overweight and/or obesity, kidney stones, osteoporosis, elevated blood pressure, or cardiovascular diseases, among others.
The WHO recommends reducing sodium intake in order to reduce blood pressure and the risk of cardiovascular disease, strokes and coronary heart disease among adults to less than 2g (5g of salt) a day.
