- Rosehip is a wild bush that can grow over 2m high, with thin and flexible branches covered with purple thorns of pinnate leaves, toothed edges and 5-petal, pinkish flowers with musky scent. The fruit of Rosehip is a fleshy ovoid, red or orange-coloured fruit. The content of the fruit is >40% polyunsaturated fatty acids (mainly linolenic, linoleic and oleic), carotenes, flavonoids, tannins and vitamin C. The delicate content of Omega 3, 6 and 9, essential fatty acids, in Rosehip Oil intensely nourishes the structure of the skin.

Rosehip
Rosehip has got its origin in Eastern Europe and grows naturally in Poland, Romania, the Balkans, Hungary, New Zealand, the Caucasus, Western Asia and Northern Africa, among other countries. It was introduced in Chile during the conquest and currently covers a large part of its surface, from sea level to 2,000m above sea level. Nowadays, this country is the main producer and exporter of Rosehip oil. The first importing countries are Germany, Sweden, the United States, Japan, France and Switzerland.
The genus Rose includes at least 100 species. This is represented in Chile by at least three types, which are commonly known by the term ‘Rosehip‘, family of rosaceae, subfamily of rosoidea or Rosa rubiginosa, or Rosa canina.
Given the great importance of the Rosehip fruit in nutritional, cosmetic and pharmaceutical potential, in recent years there has been a great number of research regarding these properties and different parts of the plant.
