Oregano: a spice that gives flavour and health to your meals

Origanum (oregano) species, rich in essential oils, have been used for thousands of years as a spice and in herbology as a digestant. The term hyssop (the Greek form of the Hebrew word ‘ezov‘), also called ‘za’atar‘ in Arabic and ‘origanum‘ in Latin, was first mentioned in the Bible. Origanum vulgare is an evergreen shrub with healthy properties, known locally as Jungali Tulsi, oregano or Himalayan marjoram. It is widely found in the Mediterranean areas and in North Africa. The major constituents in O. vulgare are carvacrol, thymol, r-Cymene and y-Terpinene.

Thank you for your comment. Food supplements are suggested to be used for one trimester and to evaluate the results to see if it is necessary to continue. If in doubt, consult your health care practitioner. You can find more information on how to take it in the ‘How to Use’ section.

It seems very effective. I would like to know if it can also be used externally to treat lower back or joint pain and in this case in what proportion.
