MARNYS® Clove Essential Oil is 100% pure and chemotyped, that is, it has got a defined composition and is 100% of natural origin. Clove oil has been obtained by steam distillation and has not been denatured or mixed with other oils, what ensures the properties of the essential oil.

MARNYS® Clove Essential Oil contains the chemotype: eugenol. Its colour and appearance range from colourless to pale yellow, and it's got a spiced flavour, properties that favour food taste.

MARNYS® Clove Essential Oil is a food-grade oil, provides a very intense scent which enhances the flavouring power in salty and sweet food. It's got a spicy, strong and bitter taste that leaves a cold sensation in the mouth when raw. This sensation is softer when the oil undergoes culinary processes.

Clove is used as a culinary spice, especially in the cuisine of Asian, African and Middle Eastern countries, flavouring all kinds of recipes from meats, curries and marinades, to desserts with fruits like apples, pears or rhubarb. Clove can also be used to give an aromatic and flavouring touch to hot drinks, often combined with other ingredients such as lemon and sugar. Clove is a common element in spice blends, including pumpkin pie spice, and for shortcrust biscuits or 'speculaas', which are very typical in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.

The recipe for Christmas Gingerbread Cookies is prepared with an exquisite blend of Clove, Ginger, Cinnamon, Honey, Nutmeg and powdered Cardamom along with the traditional ingredients flour, egg and butter. You should try this recipe to show off your skills, so prepare an afternoon snack accompanied by a delicious cup of chocolate.

What does the Clove Tree look like?

The evergreen clove tree is native to the Moluccas and is widely grown in Tanzania, Madagascar, Brazil and other tropical regions. The shape of this tree is pyramidal, 20m high, and belongs to the Myrtaceae family. Clove is obtained from the flower buds of Eugenia caryophyllata (a synonym of the term Syzygium aromaticum) which are hand-picked before blooming. The buds are about 1-1.5cm long, brown, with a very characteristic shape. The lower part consists of the calyx tube that encloses the immature flower in its upper half. When collected, they must be separated from their stalk and then dried in the sunlight. The taste and scent are very particular.
