Opening of 'Healing Walks'

The 'Healing Walks' space is now a reality for patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at the Santa Lucía Hospital in Cartagena, so they can go out and experience the benefits of fresh air and sunlight while reconnecting with their families and pets.

As part of the Santa Lucía ICU Humanization Project, this new area has been enabled courtesy of the Cartagena laboratory specializing in natural supplements and cosmetics, MARNYS - Martínez Nieto S.A.

This space, covering around 153 m2, has been refurbished on the terrace of the emergency area of the hospital complex, with views of the port and the surrounding mountains. A wall vinyl has been installed to provide privacy for the patients and their families, as well as furniture for their complete comfort. Access has also been adjusted to be wheelchair-accessible for ICU beds.

José Martínez Nieto, president and founder of MARNYS - Martínez Nieto S.A. has attended the inauguration event this Wednesday 26th July, alongside the Health Counsellor of the Region of Murcia, Mr. Juan José Pedreño; the managing director of Health Area 2 and the Santa Lucía University Hospital in Cartagena, Mr. José Francisco Sedes; the general director of healthcare assistance of the Murcian Health Service, Ms. Isabel Ayala; and the councillor of the Area of Social Policy, Family and Equality of the Cartagena City Council, Ms. Cristina Mora, among other authorities.

"Since we became aware of this Humanization of the ICU project we have made every effort on our part to make this space a reality as soon as possible. Patients in this unit can now reunite outdoors with more than one family member and even with their pets, which they haven't seen for weeks or months, and they can feel the breeze and the sun, something very beneficial for their recovery," stated Mr. José Martínez Nieto, president and founder of MARNYS - Martínez Nieto S.A.

For MARNYS - Martínez Nieto S.A., this action is part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs 'MARNYS Healthy' and 'MARNYS Community', which include initiatives aimed at promoting health and well-being of people and the environments where they live and work, as well as commitment to the local community, respectively.
