Your skin ready for summer and sun

Published: 25 June, 2020 | 4'

Summer is the time of year when our skin is most exposed to external aggressions. Among them, the sun's rays are one of the main aggressors that can cause premature aging if not properly protected and hydrated.

Similarly, high temperatures, heat or sweating can contribute to our skin being more susceptible to drying out and suffering from solar erythema. Constant bathing, chlorine in swimming pools or salt water from the sea can also affect its condition.

The importance of hydration for your skin

In order to maintain the skin's natural barrier against external damage, correct hydration guidelines must be followed to prevent the skin from drying out or becoming irritated.

For this reason, it is important to follow a specific care routine aimed at moisturising, cooling, calming and restoring the skin's natural barrier, both before and after exposure to the sun. Although it is advisable to follow some care throughout the year, it is in summer when they should be intensified because of their continuous exposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays.

Nutrients for the skin: take care of your diet

Water is the main element that we must incorporate without fail into our diet, as it promotes hydration and helps the body eliminate toxins through the skin.

More than 15% of the water in our body is found in the skin. This amount decreases over the years, so it is essential to hydrate ourselves from the inside and drink about a liter and a half of water a day to keep our skin flexible and elastic.

There are certain nutrients such as proteins, mineral salts (zinc, manganese and magnesium) and vitamins (especially A, B and C) that are essential in a diet to keep our skin healthy and well cared for. Among the recommended foods with important amounts of nutrients are carrots, oranges, hazelnuts, almonds, watercress, milk or brown rice.

Dry or dehydrated skin?

Dry skin can sometimes be confused with dehydrated skin, but the two conditions occur for different reasons. Dehydrated skin is a temporary state caused by the action of external factors on our dermis such as extreme temperatures, which reduce water levels in our body. On the other hand, dry skin is a permanent and genetic type of skin, as is oily or mixed skin.

How do I know if my skin is dehydrated?

Dehydration of the skin is usually one of the most common problems, especially in summer. Some of the clues that our skin offers us to know that it needs immediate care are the appearance of cracks and spots on the skin, or the feeling of tightness

Another sign that our skin is dehydrated is desquamation. This can also happen to us, sometimes, when after sunbathing we notice that it starts to "peel". The reason for this is none other than a state of dehydration of the skin.

The lack of water can also cause our skin to appear dull and even with marked dark circles and a "tight" feeling, the latter normally due to the use of very aggressive cosmetics on our skin. This is why it is convenient to use products formulated with natural ingredients.

Take care of your skin before and after sun exposure

The sun has multiple benefits for our body, but it also has a harmful effect on the skin if we do not pay attention to its care. This should be both before and during exposure, especially if what we are looking for is a tan, but also after.

Purify your skin with MARNYS® Argeloe

Prepare your skin before sun exposure with MARNYS® Argeloe, a purifying water with a unique combination of Colloidal Silver and Aloe Vera with 100% natural ingredients. Colloidal Silver is used as skin protector, it reinforces its barrier function and is perfect for removing impurities and bacteria that cause, for example, the appearance of acne or blackheads. To clean your skin with Argeloe, impregnate a cotton pad with the product.

MARNYS oils for your daily hydration routine

On a daily basis, and without exception, we should follow a hydration ritual that maintains the good condition of our skin. An ideal time to do this is after a shower, when the skin is still somewhat moist. As the pore is more open, the product penetrates better.

This is why MARNYS® offers you the following 100% vegetable and pure oils that cannot be missing in your summer moisturizing routine:

MARNYS® SWEET ALMOND OIL

The first one, MARNYS Sweet Almond Oil, is ideal for maintaining the skin's barrier function and also provides Omega 9 fatty acid that helps improve skin's appearance, providing intense softness and elasticity.

It is suitable for all skin types, but especially for sensitive, dry and irritable skin.

MARNYS® ORGANIC ARGAN OIL

As an intensive repairer, MARNYS® Organic Argan Oil provides nutrition, softness and shine to skin and hair. It has an anti-aging effect, contributing to decrease the signs of aging and restoring skin, attenuating expression lines.

It also protects the skin from external aggressions such as the sun and favours the good condition of the skin's natural barrier, restoring moisture.

It is suitable for all skin types, especially dry skin, providing essential fatty acids. In addition, it is a light-textured oil and is quickly absorbed without leaving a greasy residue. It can be applied directly to clean, damp skin after showering or already dry, or combined with your usual moisturiser.

MARIGOLD SOOTHING OIL MARNYS®

MARNYS® Soothing Calendula Oil helps to soothe, smooth and regenerate skin after sun exposure, especially sensitive skin that tends to be irritated.
