We continue our commitment to reading alongside ‘La Botica del Libro’
- This non-profit association aims to promote reading in the most disadvantaged neighbourhoods of Cartagena
- For the past two years, we have supported the project to ensure the continuity of its educational and social activities
Luca D’Ambrosio, the new Chief Executive Officer of MARNYS, visited the facilities of ‘La Botica del Libro’, located in the José Mª Lapuerta neighbourhood of Cartagena, together with some team members to reinforce our support for this social entity.
Since 2022, we at MARNYS have co-funded the survival of ‘La Botica del Libro’, a non-profit social project that was established 20 years ago with the mission of promoting reading among the most disadvantaged.
Both financially and by donating materials and books, we express our commitment to ensuring that the project can continue its activities.
20 years of reading among the most disadvantaged
More than two dozen volunteers, under the guidance of its founders, Marina Campos, Isabel Gallego, and Ana Martínez, supported by several departments of the Cartagena City Council, help children, young people, and adults in various disadvantaged neighbourhoods of the city to begin and ensure reading.
“All of them carry out great social work, assisting over a hundred young people by promoting access to such a basic educational support as reading in a fun and engaging way,” explains Luca D’Ambrosio, CEO of MARNYS.
MARNYS's commitment to education
This action falls under the MARNYS COMMUNITY and MARNYS TALENT programmes, part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) plan, aimed at supporting the most disadvantaged groups and promoting education, equality of opportunity, as well as social and labour integration.
In addition to the participation of the MARNYS team in various activities of the entity such as storytelling sessions, we encourage reading among employees in our ‘corporate library’, which also serves to highlight the great work of the project.
