To perform at work, to keep up with the household tasks or to enjoy spare time with our family, friends and our partner. Our day-to-day life is very demanding and we often need extra energy, to break free from stress or to feel capable of physically performing in situations that require our maximum vigour and intensity.
For this reason, correct nutrition is essential to improve performance and contribute to a rapid recovery. Natural food supplements (invigorating or tonic substances, adaptogens) complement our diet and contribute to body's balance. Natural invigorating substances help maintain the production and use of energy by delaying the onset of fatigue, they help optimise muscle strength and power, and preserve a correct metabolic flow when it comes to cognitive functions and sexual functioning.
Natural energisers for physical condition
The concept ‘physical condition’ refers to an individual state characterised by the ability to vigorously perform our daily activities and by the demonstration of characteristics and capabilities associated with a low early risk of suffering from diseases like hypertension, diabetes or obesity, among others.
There are different situations that can alter the physical and psychic condition, being the most important:
FATIGUE
Fatigue significantly affects our life quality. It is the beginning of tiredness after starting an activity and can lead to exhaustion or difficulty in performing physical or mental tasks (decreased attention, concentration or drowsiness). There are other terms associated with fatigue: asthenia, lack of strength or inability to perform daily tasks–especially at the end of the day this can lead to weakness, or reduction or loss of muscle strength.
STRESS
Stress is part of daily life and, although it is important for giving quick and accurate responses to events, if it is not balanced, it can affect physical and mental performance, immune potential and can even lead to disorders in body functions.
SEXUAL FUNCTIONING
Sexual functioning is affected by stress, fatigue and tiredness, as well as obesity, cardiovascular disorders, smoking habits or environmental factors such as exposure to certain chemicals, heavy metals, pesticides, heat or electromagnetic radiation, among others. All these situations can affect fertility, which depends on three major factors: erection difficulties, hormonal imbalance and oxidative damage.
Food supplements rich in phenolic compounds, proteins, vitamin E, minerals, amino acids, caffeine, and saponins are particularly useful for invigorating and toning body and mind, fighting tiredness and fatigue, modulating stress and promoting metabolic and functional processes in our body
NATURAL ENERGISERS
Since the beginning of Greco-Roman, Arab, Chinese, Indian and Native American civilizations, the use of natural preparations has allowed the so-called Traditional Medicine to be “the sum total of the knowledge, skill, and practices based on the theories, beliefs, and experiences indigenous to different cultures, whether explicable or not, used in the maintenance of health as well as in the prevention, diagnosis, improvement or treatment of physical and mental illness.” (OMS 2013, ISBN 978 92 4 350609 8).
These natural preparations were dependent on the so-called "temperaments", the energetic state of an individual, so the invigorating or toning remedies were developed according to them. Their properties allowed the functions of the body to be normalised to obtain power, get encouraged and to reach harmony for daily activities.
Some of the natural remedies favouring performance are:
TRIBULUS
Tribulus terrestris (Zygophyllaceae family) contains a variety of bioactive constituents (flavonoids, saponins, among others). It has long been used in Indian and Chinese medicine systems as an aphrodisiac, facilitating sexual functioning, as well as in the maintenance of the nervous and cardiovascular systems.

- Minerals like zinc and selenium: facilitate cell growth processes, fertility and normal reproduction, and immune and thyroid functions.
