MARNYS awards winners of the XVII Intercenter Chess Tournament

As part of the 'Play and Think with MARNYS' project, the laboratory of natural dietary supplements and cosmetics MARNYS® - Martínez Nieto S.A. collaborated with the XVII Intercenter Chess Tournament, organized by IES Los Molinos in Cartagena.
The president and founder of MARNYS® - Martínez Nieto S.A., Mr. José Martínez Nieto, presented the top three winners in each category with a set of MARNYS® products and school supplies. In this way, the company showed its support for the practice of this sport which, as Mr. José Martínez Nieto states, "has great importance in the education and development of children, as it promotes logical thinking, reasoning, and decision-making."
This seventeenth edition of the Tournament, which returned after a break due to the pandemic, achieved a high participation with over two hundred students from primary, secondary, and high schools from twenty-six educational centers in the Region of Murcia.
During his speech, the president and founder of MARNYS® - Martínez Nieto S.A., Mr. José Martínez Nieto, explained the 'Play and Think with MARNYS' project and the benefits of introducing chess in classrooms, sharing the experiences of more than 30 educational centers that have already successfully implemented it.
The event, hosted by the director of IES Los Molinos, Mr. Andrés Noguera, also had the presence of the Sports Councilor of the Cartagena City Council, Mr. Álvaro Valdés, who gave words of recognition to the teacher Mr. José Antonio Arribas, present at the event. Arribas started the chess classroom at José María Lapuerta school over 40 years ago, teaching hundreds of children how to play, some of whom have taken over and continue with their mission as teachers. Examples of this are Mr. José Lara and Mr. Abel Ojaos from Club Deportivo Ajedrez Lapuerta, and Mr. José Ginés Espín, teacher at IES Los Molinos.
Checkmate to School Failure with MARNYS
'Play and Think with MARNYS' is a project promoted by this laboratory of natural dietary supplements and cosmetics, in collaboration with Club Deportivo Ajedrez Lapuerta, to bring chess to all classrooms. Started last year in 2022, it has the support of the Education Department of the Cartagena City Council and the Education Department of the Region of Murcia.
A total of 31 educational centers and over 5,300 participating students from Cartagena, La Unión, Los Alcázares, Fuente Álamo, and Águilas are already enrolled, with the aim of expanding to all schools in the Region of Murcia.
Within this project, which is themed 'Checkmate to School Failure', MARNYS® provides the necessary materials for playing chess, as well as collaborating in tournaments and competitions, and conducting lectures for teachers and students. 'Play and Think with MARNYS' is part of the MARNYS TALENT corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, which includes the company's actions aimed at education, personal and professional development, in line with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG4 Quality Education.
