MARNYS, committed to sustainable shipping with recycled materials and carbon neutral transport

• MARNYS® - Martínez Nieto S.A. has implemented a plan to reduce plastics and incorporate more sustainable packaging and shipments.
• This measure, which saves around 400 kg of plastic per year, is part of its 'MARNYS PLANET' Corporate Social Responsibility programme.

The food supplements and natural cosmetics laboratory MARNYS® - Martínez Nieto S.A., has implemented a sustainable shipping plan, committed to the reduction of plastics, the incorporation of packaging with recycled materials and the use of sustainable transport.

This measure, which applies to all the shipments from the company's headquarters in Cartagena, Spain, will save around 400 kg of plastic per year.

In addition to these measures, the company also implemented a carbon neutral shipping project in January 2022, whereby MARNYS offsets the CO2 emissions from its shipments to Spain and Portugal by supporting environmental protection projects certified by the United Nations.

These initiatives are part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme 'MARNYS Planet', which includes the company's measures aimed at protecting the environment, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

As explained by Lourdes López, head of CSR at MARNYS: "through this programme we carry out measures aimed at reducing waste and emissions, conserving water and energy and, in short, boosting efforts to conserve ecosystems. For example, in our facilities we installed one of the largest self-consumption photovoltaic plants in the region of Murcia, in order to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Also, we count with an Environmental Management System to incorporates continuous improvements in different areas such as the use of natural light or improved insulation".
