'Encounter with Women's Voices' to celebrate March 8th at MARTÍNEZ NIETO S.A.

  • Two women in traditionally male-dominated sectors, Pilar Gracia, a military nurse in the Navy, and Beatriz Olivares, a subinspector of Local Police in Cartagena, shared their personal and professional experiences with the company's employees.
  • Throughout the month of March, MARTINEZ NIETO S.A. has organized different activities, workshops, and talks, on the occasion of 'Women's Month'.

On the occasion of International Women's Day on March 8th, the company Martínez Nieto S.A. has joined in the celebrations throughout the month with different publications, workshops, talks, and activities at its facilities. The objective of these encounters is to educate on equality, promote diversity and respect between genders, and showcase examples of women who, through effort and intelligence, have achieved positions of great responsibility.

The first of the events organized by the laboratory of dietary supplements and natural cosmetics was the 'Encounter with Women's Voices', an inspiring talk given by two professionals who work in traditionally male-dominated sectors.

Thus, Pilar Gracia Velilla, a military nurse in the Navy, and Beatriz Olivares Martínez, a subinspector of Local Police in Cartagena, shared their personal and professional experiences with the attendees, collaborators of MARTÍNEZ NIETO S.A.

During the encounter, the speakers discussed the challenges faced by women in their respective fields and how they are being overcome to reach a scenario of equal opportunities, although there is still a long way to go.

Military nursing and local police: two male-dominated sectors giving voice to equality

In the talk with Pilar Gracia, military nurse in the Navy, attendees were able to firsthand learn about the inclusion of women in the Armed Forces from 1988 to the present day, as it marks 35 years of women in the military.

In Pilar's words, "Today there is equal access and it is completely normalized for men and women to work equally and be valued for their merits, regardless of their gender." Gracia also added, "The Armed Forces are precisely one of the institutions in which this integration process has been achieved most quickly, and this has been the result of a collective effort by women and men."

On the other hand, Beatriz Olivares, a subinspector of Local Police in Cartagena, is the only high-ranking woman in the town, a path that has required effort. "My trajectory is not due to luck, but to great dedication and constant personal sacrifice to balance my motherhood with my professional preparation. That sacrifice is the hardest thing I have experienced, and I will always be grateful for the support of my husband, parents, in-laws, and my closest circle, even the moms from school who took care of my children while I studied. A part of the insignias I wear today belong to them," she added.
