Over 6,000 students from 34 schools are now part of 'Play Thinking with MARNYS'

Three new educational centers have joined the program promoted by MARNYS - Martínez Nieto S.A. and the Lapuerta Chess Sports Club.
With the inclusion of a school in Lorca and another in Murcia, the project continues to progress in bringing chess to all classrooms in the region.

More than 6,000 students from 34 schools are already participating in the program 'Play Thinking with MARNYS', which is promoted by the laboratory of natural dietary supplements and cosmetics MARNYS - Martínez Nieto S.A., in collaboration with the Lapuerta Chess Sports Club.

With the aim of bringing chess to classrooms, three new schools have joined this project that began last year in 2022 and has the support of the Department of Education of the Region of Murcia as well as the Education Council of the Cartagena City Council.

Two of the latest added schools are located in Lorca and Murcia, so 'Play Thinking with MARNYS' continues to expand throughout the region.

Specifically, the new participating schools are: San Isidoro and Santa Florentina in Cartagena; La Flota in Murcia; and Sagrado Corazón de Jesús in Lorca.

The President and founder of MARNYS - Martínez Nieto S.A., Mr. José Martínez Nieto, as well as the Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, Ms. Lourdes López Díaz, have provided the new schools with materials including chess boards, pieces, and chess books. During the handover ceremony held on May 17th at the facilities of MARNYS - Martínez Nieto S.A., they were accompanied by Mr. José Antonio Arribas García, the teacher who started the chess classroom at José María Lapuerta School in Cartagena over 40 years ago, and Ms. María Teresa Sánchez Sánchez, the teacher who ensured that students continued learning and practicing chess when they moved on to secondary education.

'MARNYS Talent' wants to checkmate educational failure

'Play Thinking with MARNYS' has the slogan 'Checkmate educational failure'. This project brings chess to students from 1st year of nursery school to 6th year of primary school, including open classrooms for students with special needs. The aim is to play and think, promoting the playful aspect of education, and having an impact on reducing absenteeism, failure, and school dropout rates.

MARNYS - Martínez Nieto S.A. provides the necessary materials for practicing chess, as well as guidance to teachers and students from qualified professionals, in addition to collaborating in tournaments and competitions.

'Play Thinking with MARNYS' is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program 'MARNYS Talent', aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda, specifically with SDG4 Quality Education.
